What's going on in class???
We have not sent home lots of work over the first three weeks of school. It does not mean that we are not doing a variety of activities in the class each day. My goal is to expose the children to activities and centers that develop their small muscles and small muscle skills (ie., fingers, hands and eyes). This will prepare them to use scissors correctly, learn the proper way to hold a pencil, teach how to read from left to right and encourage the correct way to do many other skills they need for the next part of our curriculum. Another piece of this process is exposing the children to different textures, smells, and sounds. This will help your child go beyond cutting, gluing and pasting! You will see that all of these skills come together in future months/years to create amazing problem solving & critical thinking skills. Of course, the most important part of what we do is making sure that the kids are having fun while learning. In my book, having fun is what early education is ALL about!!!
Daily Radical Routine
* Calendar: Count the days of the week & the months of the year
* Weather: Ask the kids to see if it sunny, rainy, cloudy, etc...
* Scripture: Go over monthly scripture and talk about how important each child is to God
* The Pledge of Allegiance: Recite each day and talk about how to place your hand on your heart
* The Basics: Shapes, color, names & numbers
* Questioning skills: What IS a question???
Let me know if I can answer any questions at any time!! Your child is a blessing to our class!
