2011-2012
Welcome to the
Early Ed Computer Lab

St. Mark's Early Education Computer Lab is an exciting place for our three classes to visit each week.  Check this page each month for suggestions of websites and skills you can work on with your little ones at home.

Three-year-old classes visit the computer lab 1-2 times each week for 30 minute classes, depending on how many days a week they are enrolled in school.  The curriculum is based on hand-eye coordination with regard to manipulating the mouse and navigating through preschool appropriate software.  Students are also introduced to all of the computer system components.  You will soon find your child coming home saying different rhymes or using hand motions to remember things like "C-P-U!"

1st Semester Basic Goals

·       Learning about the 5 basic parts of  a

          computer station:  mouse, monitor,

          keyboard, CPU and the printer.

  ·    Learning & mastering basic left clicking

           on the mouse.

  ·    Reinforcing classroom developmental

           goals & concepts.

Ideas For Working At Home

 ·    10 minutes of supervised computer time at

home, several times per week is a great

guideline for a 3-4 year old child.

·      One of the best websites for young learners

that you can access from home on the

internet is www.starfall.com .  You can

also check our school bookmarks for other

great resources and sites by clicking here:

      Early Ed Bookmarks .

·       Place a small dot or sticker on the left button

of the mouse to encourage your child to

click the correct place on the mouse with

the pointer finger.  Finding the correct

location to click is difficult, at first, for

        young computer students.

Let me know if you have any questions during the school year or if I can help support your child in any special way.  Thank you for sharing your little monkey with me each week!

Happy New School Year!
